5 easy ways to get your videos seen online

You’ve invested in creating a video to tell your story, but how the heck do you get it out there? I can’t tell you how disappointing it is when we create an amazing promo video for a client, but it never gets seen. Making a great video is really only half the battle.

But It doesn’t have to be that way. The best way to get your video the exposure it deserves is to have a clear plan in place for launching it, and then hit it from as many different angles as possible.

Here are 5 easy ways to get your videos seen online…

1. Upload them to YouTube & Vimeo

If you haven’t done it already, get your own YouTube and/or Vimeo channel and start uploading your videos. This will allow you to tap into billions of potential viewers, and will also provide a location to host your videos. Once you have the link, you can easily embed the videos on your website and share them across social media.

YouTube is considered the video sharing Giant, with access to over 900 million users a month, but don’t underestimate Vimeo. While they have a smaller viewership of 170 million users a month, it’s a more intimate and engaged crowd with a greater appreciation for quality videos.

While both platforms serve up HD, Vimeo has better quality videos given the higher maximum bitrate and better encoding servers. Do a little research and choose which platform is right for you. Or do both!

2. Link to your videos on your website & blog

Now that you’ve got the video up online, it’s time to share it with people. If you’ve created a great video to tell your story, why not have it front and center on your homepage. You can easily embed the video so it plays directly within the page on both YouTube or Vimeo.

Then figure out a clever way to work it into a blog, or multiple blogs. All of these activities are creating more opportunities for your video to be seen.

3. Upload or share videos across social media

Sharing your YouTube and Vimeo videos across platforms like Facebook is a great way to get your videos in front of a wider network. I would strongly suggest uploading your best videos directly to each platform though.

That way you can promote them (with paid ads) and they will also show up in your video section. You can even set a featured video.

Kanto on Social Media

Also, don’t limit yourself to just one or two platforms. Even though you may not have a large following on say twitter or Google+, it doesn’t hurt to put it out there. You never know where a potential client might find you.

4. Promote videos on social media

At this point you’ve reached everyone in your existing network, and maybe more people via social shares and hashtags. But why stop there?. Chances are you’ve already invested a significant budget in making the video, so why not throw a small ad budget at it?.

Using Facebook as an example, you could run some ads with the objective of getting video views and reach an even wider audience. The minimum ad spend on Facebook is only $1 day, so come up with an ad budget that you feel comfortable with, and then be strategic with your targeting to maximize ad spend.

5. Link to your video in your email signature

You may have already added social media buttons to your email signature which is a great way to pick up some additional followers.

Now apply this same approach to promoting your videos. Add a link to the video in your signature and now everyone you connect with will be able to hear your story. Video is so powerful. Use it.
