We’re happy to present our new logo design for the Jewish Genealogical Society of Toronto. Jewish genealogy and the study of one’s roots is one of the fastest growing movements within the international Jewish community. The Jewish Genealogical Society of Toronto provides a forum for the exchange of knowledge and information through meetings, workshops, newsletters, e-mail, and guest lectures, and operates a number of programmes and major projects to further its mission.
We talked a lot about history with the JGST, but reflecting on the future of genealogy, we knew that a dynamic, modern feeling would work best for the new logo. A Star of David motif was developed, with the points of the star being similar to people sitting in a group or around a table. A double helix (DNA) connects two of these points and the entire icon was rendered with soft edges. A bright palette of analogous cool colours was chosen along with a strong, clear typeface. The final result is fresh yet sophisticated. We’re looking forward to finishing the new Jewish Genealogical Society of Toronto’s website. Stay tuned for it’s release. Thank you JGST!
